Background and history
The company was established in 2010 after the owners realize that, there is a huge demand for spices and spices related products in Zanzibar market. The company activities encompass full range of value addition/ processing of spices, vegetable and fruits. Post harvest handling including: purchase from farmers and local suppliers, grading, processing packaging and supply. At present the company is selling different spice products such as Herbal Tea Biriani Masala, Curry Powder etc.
Company description
Technology currently in use Spices processing and packaging facilities include basic equipment of grinding, mixing, labeling and packaging. However, basic traditional means of spice processing technologies is widely used in the current production this include the use of the natural sun dryer, homemade motor for grinding and other local techniques.
Technical problems faced in current operation
ZANOP facing the number of technical problems including; Wastage of raw material due to improper drying, grindings and mixing facilities, old and inefficient labeling and packaging machineries, unfinished working place and limited capacity to produce enough quantities to our customers
Training related to technology application.
In house training has been conducted to equip the personnel of the ZANOP to produce high quality and acceptable product for the market requirement. Also the training on how to utilize the basic available machine and its safety was provided.
Specific additional training required
Training related to newly installed equipment and machinery is required in order to ensure that the proper use of the machines is adhered.
OWNERSHIP
ZANOP is privately owned by local entrepreneurs who have decided to join together and pursue for this opportunity, the owners are Mr. Nassor H. Omar and Sabah Abdallah Salum.
